Stop oxidative stress in its tracks with CELLF supplements

We all know the effects that stressful modern life can have on our health, but what about the other type of stress – oxidative stress?

Oxidative stress is caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) AKA free radicals, which can run rampant through the body causing damage. This damage is thought to be involved in the aging process itself. Luckily, our bodies can fight back using antioxidants commonly found in superfoods. By limiting general stress, eating well and taking supplements we can avoid oxidative stress and, hopefully, delay aging.

What is oxidative stress?

Cells are very busy, performing a thousand different functions at once; this can lead to our cells experiencing a certain type of cell stress known as oxidative stress. This is caused by an imbalance of free radicals, the enemy of longevity and healthy aging. Free radicals are the by-product of natural processes in the body, like eating and exercising. They can also be produced in reaction to environmental factors like cigarette smoke, pollution, sunlight and radiation.

Luckily, our bodies can combat free radicals by using their kryptonite, antioxidants. As the name suggests, antioxidants neutralise oxidative stress and free radicals. However, if levels of free radicals and antioxidants become imbalanced, free radicals win the battle and overwhelm the body’s ability to regulate them. This causes a condition known as oxidative stress.

Effect on health and longevity

Symptoms of oxidative stress include inflammation, reduced energy levels, brain fog, disturbed sleep, and impaired physical recovery. Long term, free radicals and oxidative stress can work together to accelerate aging and increase the risk of diseases like cancer, inflammatory joint disease, dementia, asthma and diabetes to name a few. Some scientists even argue that aging itself is an accumulation of damage from free radicals. As we age, our ability to fight off free radicals with antioxidants weakens, forming a never-ending cycle.

Free radicals and oxidative stress severely impact health and longevity. They are therefore clear targets for antiaging interventions like longevity supplements, which often contain added antioxidants.

Fighting free radicals

Although accumulating more free radicals as we age is inevitable, there are certain lifestyle changes we can make to limit their numbers. Firstly, It makes sense to reduce your intake of free radicals:

  • Foods high in refined carbohydrates and sugars are more likely to generate free radicals in the body, so should be regulated to treat days only.
  • Red meat, with its high iron content, is vulnerable to oxidation and can cause oxidative stress. The preservatives in processed meats like sausages and bacon can also produce free radicals.
  • Alcohol is a major producer of free radicals and should be drunk in moderation. Some varieties like red wine contain antioxidants as well as free radicals, and potentially have a neutral effect.
  • Sun damage. The UV rays in sunlight damage the skin and trigger the production of free radicals. Wearing sunscreen everyday can protect against this and reduce the signs of aging indelibly traced on the skin.

Secondly, increasing your intake of free radicals’ enemy, antioxidants, can limit the damage they do to the body. Antioxidants are commonly found in fruit and vegetables, forming part of the reason why these foods are so good for us. Try to include foods high in antioxidants in your diet, especially as you age:

  • Pulses
  • Vegetables
  • Whole cereals
  • Tea and coffee

Unfortunately, the bioavailability of natural antioxidants can be relatively low, and this is where free-radical busting supplements come in.

CELLF longevity supplements

Exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet and getting enough sleep all contribute to better longevity. However, some longevity enthusiasts are seeking strategies that go further than this. The longevity supplement scene is booming with pills, gels and powders all promising to delay aging and improve longevity. But how do these supplements actually work?

CELLF is a clinically tested longevity supplement from Mikra that focuses on reducing oxidative stress at a cellular level. With the plethora of products out there, it’s important to check the ingredients of supplements to estimate their efficacy. CELLF contains three key ingredients:

  • Glutathione – This is a powerful antioxidant that reduces free radicals within the body, protecting cells and preventing damage.
  • Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinol) – improves the speed and efficiency of mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell) for greater energy production and availability at a cellular level.
  • Pyrroloquinoline quinone – protects the brain. Also increases the number of mitochondria in your cells, improving cell function and resulting in more efficient natural energy production.

These ingredients are combined in a dual-action supplement that targets two major drivers of aging: oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. As well as free radicals, oxidative stress can also be produced by dysfunctional mitochondria [1]. Mitochondria are famously the batteries of the cell that provide energy and power our bodies. Like most things in our bodies, mitochondria start to break down with age, creating oxidative stress. CELLF supplements work to improve mitochondria number and function, therefore reducing oxidative stress.

CELLF can relieve the diverse symptoms of oxidative stress, namely inflammation, reduced energy levels, brain fog, disturbed sleep, and impaired physical recovery. Along with lifestyle changes, longevity supplements like CELLF can be added to the arsenal against aging.
