4Moving Biotech announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted Fast Track Designation to 4P004 for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis in patients with synovitis who have not benefited from at least two prior pharmacological therapies.
The designation recognizes the seriousness of knee osteoarthritis and the unmet need for disease-modifying treatments and will support enhanced regulatory interactions and potential accelerated development pathways.
4P004 is a GLP-1 analog engineered for intra-articular administration in the knee. The company claims the agent leverages pleiotropic properties, including analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-catabolic, and anabolic effects across joint tissues, and positions 4P004 as a potential first-in-class disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug that could address underlying disease mechanisms beyond symptomatic relief.
The INFLAM MOTION Phase 2a trial is ongoing in the European Union and North America, with topline results expected in early 2027. Fast Track status will enable early, structured engagement with the FDA to align on study design, endpoint selection, regulatory pathway decisions, and, once robust data are available, the potential exploration of early access options, such as expanded access.
4Moving Biotech was incorporated in mid-2020 as a spin-off of 4P-Pharma and is headquartered at the Pasteur Institute in Lille, France.
