AlzeCure presented new preclinical data on its NeuroRestore drug candidate ACD856 at the AD/PD 2026 conference.
The presentation, made available by AlzeCure, details dose-dependent activation of trk receptors and downstream target proteins and reports enhanced NGF and BDNF signaling consistent with the drug’s proposed mechanism of action. Those effects were reportedly verified in vivo and accompanied by a potent antidepressant effect in preclinical models, which the company highlights as relevant given the frequency of antidepressant use among patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
AlzeCure also notes previous preclinical findings for the NeuroRestore platform showing neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory and disease-modifying effects in models using Trk positive allosteric modulators.
ACD856 is described as a first-in-class candidate being prepared for upcoming phase II clinical trials, and the program received a major European Innovation Council grant in 2025, according to the company. The company made the full conference presentation available on its website.
