AlzeCure has entered an out-licensing and collaboration agreement with Danish biotech QuantumCell ApS valued at more than $2.2 billion, excluding royalty payments.
The deal grants QuantumCell global rights to AlzeCure’s NeuroRestore platform, including the clinical-stage candidate ACD856.
The Swedish biotech will receive a total upfront payment of $12 million, of which $5 million is a direct investment in AlzeCure, and is eligible for development and commercial milestone payments plus tiered single-digit to low double-digit royalties on sales, according to the company.
The drug candidate, currently in clinical development, is said to protect nerve cells, reduce inflammation and potentially slow disease progression.
AlzeCure develops small-molecule candidates for central nervous system disorders with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease and pain. The partnership is intended to accelerate development and broaden patient access to assets from the NeuroRestore platform.
