Alzinova is preparing for a global phase II study of its vaccine candidate ALZ-101 after a Phase Ib program that the company describes as providing both safety reassurance and mechanistic evidence.
According to the company, the Phase Ib trial showed no incidence of ARIA and induced a strong, sustained immune response with antibodies detected in cerebrospinal fluid; exploratory signals appeared in cognitive measures and biomarkers including P-Tau181, T-Tau and neurofilament light.
The program has received Fast Track designation and IND clearance from the US regulator, and Dr. Marwan Sabbagh has been appointed Global Principal Investigator for the Phase II effort.
Financing to advance preparations is being built in stages: a recent rights issue raised approximately SEK 36.5 million before expenses, the main owner has committed a SEK 10 million loan, and warrants of series TO4, priced at SEK 0.32 per share with a subscription period running until 8 June 2026, can raise about SEK 16 million if fully exercised; subscription and guarantee commitments currently cover around 80 percent.
The TO4 proceeds are intended for manufacturing scale-up and regulatory work, while a larger funding solution or partnership will be needed to run Phase II. In parallel, Alzinova is collaborating with Amsterdam UMC on a blood-based test tied to the same platform, with first results expected in the third quarter of 2026; the company claims the test could both generate revenue and serve as a companion diagnostic.
