Alzprotect announced it has established a US subsidiary as part of its strategy to expand operations and increase its presence in the American market. According to the company, the new entity will help advance clinical development and potential commercialization of its lead candidate, AZP2006, targeting neurodegenerative diseases.
The company said the subsidiary will focus on coordinating US-based activities, including clinical trial management, regulatory interactions and business development partnerships. Alzprotect claims the move will strengthen engagement with key stakeholders and support preparations for later-stage trials.
According to the company, AZP2006 is currently being evaluated for progressive supranuclear palsy and other tauopathies. Alzprotect said the drug candidate acts by modulating the activity of the Progranulin pathway, aiming to reduce neuroinflammation and protect neurons from degeneration.
The company claims the US expansion aligns with its broader strategy to accelerate development and bring its neuroprotective therapies to patients worldwide. Alzprotect said the subsidiary will also explore opportunities for local collaborations and potential fundraising to support clinical milestones.
Alzprotect focuses on developing disease-modifying treatments for neurodegenerative conditions with significant unmet medical need. The company claims its lead asset could address key pathological processes in multiple disorders linked to tau and TDP-43 proteinopathies.
