Anavex Life Sciences presented new data from its ANAVEX®2-73-AD-004 Phase IIb/III program and the long-term open-label extension ANAVEX®2-73-AD-EP-004 at the AD/PD 2026 Conference, showing a consistent correlation between MRI-detected preservation of brain volume and clinical outcomes.

A dedicated MRI biomarker analysis linked slowing of atrophy with improvements on ADAS-Cog13, ADCS-ADL and CDR-SB, and in the genetically defined ABCLEAR3 population (SIGMAR1 and COL24A1 wild type), the correlation strength for ADAS-Cog13 improved by 78 percent, with R² increasing from 0.23 to 0.41.

According to the company, long-term clinical data indicate 77.4 weeks (17.8 months) of time saved versus an ADNI 1 control after 144 weeks (33.1 months) of treatment. The presentation, delivered by Prof. Timo Grimmer and collaborators, emphasized oral administration and manageable tolerability as practical advantages for patients and families.

The release describes these findings as investigational and not conclusive evidence of efficacy or safety, and positions the results as supportive of Anavex Life Sciences’ precision medicine strategy for early Alzheimer’s disease.
