Bloom Science announced a collaboration with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to explore the role of the gut microbiome in brain cancer. According to the company, the partnership aims to discover new therapeutic targets by examining how microbial activity may influence tumor growth and immune responses.
The company said its research will focus initially on aggressive brain tumors, including glioblastoma. Bloom Science claims it will use its microbiome drug discovery platform to identify bacterial strains and metabolites that could affect cancer biology and treatment outcomes.
According to the company, Cedars-Sinai will contribute clinical expertise and patient data to support the investigation. Bloom Science said the goal is to translate findings into microbiome-based therapies that could complement existing cancer treatments.
The company claims this collaboration reflects growing interest in the gut-brain axis beyond neurological disorders, extending into oncology. Bloom Science said its broader strategy is to develop precision microbiome interventions targeting multiple diseases by modulating biological pathways linked to health and disease.
The company noted it is building a pipeline of microbiome-derived candidates for conditions ranging from epilepsy to cancer. Bloom Science claims the partnership with Cedars-Sinai strengthens its research capabilities and accelerates efforts to uncover new microbiome-driven approaches for treating brain tumors.
