Capsida Biotherapeutics announced a strategic collaboration with Prevail Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company, to develop gene therapies for central nervous system (CNS) disorders. According to the company, the partnership will leverage Capsida’s engineered adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsid platform alongside Prevail’s gene therapy expertise.

The company said the collaboration aims to create novel gene therapies that target serious neurodegenerative diseases with high unmet medical need. Capsida claims its proprietary capsid engineering technology enables precise delivery of genetic payloads to specific regions of the brain and other CNS tissues, which may improve treatment effectiveness and safety.

According to the company, Prevail will contribute discovery and development expertise in neurodegenerative disease biology and gene therapy design. Capsida said the partnership structure includes research funding, potential milestone payments, and royalties tied to future product commercialization.

The company claims the collaboration reflects growing industry interest in next-generation gene therapies that overcome delivery challenges to treat complex CNS disorders. Capsida said combining its capsid technology with Prevail’s therapeutic programs could accelerate the development of transformative treatments for patients.
