Cognito Therapeutics has appointed Thomas Fagan as executive vice president of its Alzheimer’s portfolio and a member of the company’s executive leadership team, according to the company.

In the role, Fagan will oversee development of the company’s Alzheimer’s program and lead strategic planning and commercial readiness efforts for Spectris, a non-invasive therapeutic platform under development for neurodegenerative diseases. The company said his responsibilities include aligning clinical development with commercialization strategy and engaging with healthcare providers, payers and health systems as the program advances toward key milestones.

Cognito Therapeutics said Fagan brings more than 25 years of experience across pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics, with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease. His background includes leadership roles involving product commercialization, clinical-to-market strategy and cross-functional team management in the neurological disease space.

Before joining Cognito Therapeutics, Fagan served as vice president of U.S. Alzheimer’s disease commercial operations at Eisai. In that role he led the company’s U.S. commercial strategy for its Alzheimer’s portfolio and supported the market launch and expansion of the treatment LEQEMBI.

Earlier in his career, Fagan spent nearly a decade at Eli Lilly in senior leadership roles focused on Alzheimer’s disease programs. His responsibilities included commercial strategy for imaging and therapeutic programs, including work related to Amyvid, a PET imaging agent used to detect amyloid plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

Cognito Therapeutics is a clinical-stage neurotechnology company developing non-invasive therapies for central nervous system disorders. According to the company, its Spectris platform is designed to stimulate coordinated neural activity and may help preserve cognitive function and slow brain atrophy in patients with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease.
