Insilico Medicine, a clinical‑stage biotechnology company using artificial intelligence to accelerate drug discovery, has appointed Halle Zhang, PhD (Med) as Vice President, Clinical Development – Oncology, the company announced. In the new role, Dr. Zhang will lead the global clinical development strategy and execution for Insilico’s oncology portfolio, covering both early‑ and late‑stage programmes across multiple tumour types and contributing to broader portfolio planning and company growth initiatives. She will report to Feng Ren, Co‑Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientific Officer, and be based in Insilico’s Cambridge, Massachusetts office.
Dr. Zhang brings more than 20 years of oncology clinical development experience spanning academia, biotechnology and large pharmaceutical firms, according to the press release. Most recently, she served as Global Clinical Development Programme Leader for both early and late oncology at Bristol Myers Squibb, where she guided global strategy and execution across solid tumour indications including lung, breast, melanoma, gastric, colorectal, bladder and head and neck cancers. Her expertise includes multiple therapeutic modalities such as immuno‑oncology, targeted small molecules and antibody‑drug conjugates, as well as working with regulatory agencies on trial design and submissions.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Zhang held senior clinical leadership positions at Infinity Pharmaceuticals and BioMed Valley Discoveries and began her career in academic research and clinical operations at Harvard Medical School, where she led NIH‑sponsored clinical trials. She holds a PhD in Medicine, an MSc in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of Birmingham and a BSc in Nursing from the University of Portsmouth.
According to Insilico, Dr. Zhang’s appointment aligns with the company’s advancing oncology pipeline, which has several AI‑designed candidates progressing into Phase I clinical trials, and reflects a strategic push to integrate clinical insight with its generative AI discovery platform to deliver differentiated cancer therapies.
