Jupiter Neurosciences has begun patient enrollment in its Phase 2a RESET study (NCT07592767) of JOTROL, an investigational trans-resveratrol micellar formulation, with first patient dosing expected in the near term, according to the company.
The multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial will enroll 30 patients randomized 1:1:1 to two dose levels versus placebo, run for 12 weeks, and is projected to complete in the first half of 2027, with primary endpoints of safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid.
The study will collect secondary measures, including ATP blood levels and inflammatory biomarkers, and will recruit at sites affiliated with Georgetown University and MedStar Health in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.
The company states that an IND was cleared in November 2025 and the completed Phase 1 study in healthy volunteers showed measurable CSF drug levels, approximately ninefold higher plasma bioavailability versus conventional resveratrol and no serious adverse events in 24 participants; the company claims these data support CNS exposure for JOTROL.
Parkinson’s disease affects an estimated 1.1 million people in the United States, with roughly 90,000 new diagnoses annually and an estimated $82.2 billion annual U.S. economic burden; the global PD treatment market was valued at $5.65 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $7.58 billion by 2030, according to available research.
JOTROL remains investigational and is not approved by the FDA or any regulatory authority.
