Formulated to support muscle function and improve healthspan, L-Protein aims to keep key growth factors in balance.
Nutri-technology company L-Nutra has launched a plant-based protein shake called L-Protein that is specifically formulated to bolster muscle function and help improve healthspan. The company says its formulation is designed to target the role that certain growth factors play in human lifespan, ensuring that these factors remain within the optimal range to support longevity.
In what the L-Nutra claims is the world’s first patent-pending protein formula designed to support healthy aging, L-Protein combines a blend of 25g of plant-based proteins and amino acids, along with 21 essential vitamins and minerals derived from 11 fruit and vegetable extracts, as well as extra virgin olive oil. When developing the product, L-Nutra avoided the use of conventional animal protein sources like meat, poultry, dairy, and whey, which the company says have been shown to elevate growth factors, such as insulin and IGF-1, beyond optimal levels, potentially accelerating biological aging.
Conversely, L-Nutra is also targeting the inadequate protein intake observed in certain strict vegan diets, which may not provide sufficient growth factors essential for optimal muscle support and healthy aging. The plant-based composition of L-Protein is designed to address this gap, offering a potential solution for maintaining muscle mass while keeping growth factors balanced for enhanced healthspan.
Founded in 2009 by The University of Southern California and Dr Valter Longo, Director of the Longevity Institute at USC, L-Nutra specializes in longevity science nutrition programs designed to promote healthy living and longevity.
