Life Biosciences has entered a manufacturing partnership with Forge Biologics to advance its adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy platform targeting aging-related diseases, the company said.
Under the agreement, Forge Biologics will deliver AAV process development, toxicology, current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) production and analytical services. These activities will take place at Forge’s Hearth facility, a 200,000 sq.ft. gene therapy manufacturing site in Columbus, Ohio.
Life Biosciences said the collaboration will support its partial epigenetic reprogramming platform, with a focus on ophthalmic indications linked to retinal ganglion cell dysfunction.
Forge will employ its proprietary HEK293 suspension Ignition Cells and pEMBR adenovirus helper plasmid systems in the manufacturing process.
The companies did not disclose financial terms. Life Biosciences said the partnership aims to improve the speed and quality of its manufacturing as it prepares for human clinical trials.
If successful, the partnership could bolster the development of Life Biosciences’ gene therapies for aging-related disorders by leveraging Forge’s established manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure.
