Longeveron announced that results from its Phase 2b clinical trial evaluating its investigational stem cell therapy for age‑related frailty have been published in Cell Stem Cell. According to the company, the data demonstrate that treatment was associated with measurable improvements in physical performance and functional measures compared with baseline assessments.
The trial assessed safety and efficacy of Longeveron’s allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell product in older adults with frailty, a condition characterised by decreased strength, endurance and resilience that contributes to higher risk of adverse health outcomes. Longeveron said the published findings confirm that the therapy was generally well tolerated and did not raise new safety concerns.
In addition to safety, the analysis highlighted enhancements in physical function, including gait speed and other clinically relevant endpoints tied to frailty severity, the company said. Longeveron positions these results as supportive of further development of its stem cell programme targeting age‑related decline.
