Loyal reported that LOY-003 has completed the Reasonable Expectation of Effectiveness section of its Expanded Conditional Approval application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a daily pill aimed at extending healthy lifespans in large and giant breed dogs.
With LOY-003’s RXE complete, the three lifespan extension candidates in Loyal’s portfolio have met the efficacy requirement for the XCA pathway, a milestone the company claims is a first for any pharmaceutical company.
Loyal identified LOY-002 as its lead program targeting insulin resistance; LOY-002 has completed RXE and the FDA’s Target Animal Safety section and is in its pivotal field trial called the STAY study.
The company says LOY-001 and LOY-003 target growth hormone and IGF-1 for large dogs as part of an effort to translate longevity research into preventive pharmaceuticals for dogs.
Loyal has raised over $250 million to date.
