MetaVia Inc. announced that a late-breaking abstract on DA-1726 has been accepted for a poster presentation at the European Association for the Study of the Liver Congress 2026 in Barcelona, scheduled May 27–30, with the presentation set for 27 May at 8:30 am CET.

The poster, titled Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics, and Pharmacodynamics of DA-1726, an Oxyntomodulin Analogue, in a Higher-Dose Phase 1 Cohort with Exploratory Noninvasive Liver Assessment, will be presented by Chris Fang, MetaVia’s chief medical officer, and is listed as abstract LB26-5204 (final abstract ID LBP-010).

DA-1726 is described as a once-weekly subcutaneous oxyntomodulin analogue that acts as a GLP-1 and glucagon dual agonist being developed for obesity and Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis.

The company claims pre-clinical mouse studies showed improved weight loss versus semaglutide and comparable weight reduction versus tirzepatide and survodutide while preserving lean mass and improving lipid effects, and the company claims that in a Phase 1 multiple ascending dose trial the 32 mg dose demonstrated best-in-class potential for weight loss, glucose control, and waist reduction.

MetaVia also says DA-1726 is being evaluated in a 16-week Phase 1 Part 3 titration study to optimize higher doses and tolerability, with data expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, and that a copy of the poster will be posted on the company website after the presentation.
