MetaVia presented late-breaking Phase 1 and preclinical data at the American Diabetes Association 2026 Scientific Sessions in New Orleans.

The Phase 1 higher-dose (48 mg) cohort of DA-1726, a once-weekly GLP1R/GCGR dual agonist, produced mean body weight reductions of 6.1% at Day 26 and 9.1% at Day 54, waist circumference decreases of 5.8 cm and 9.8 cm, and BMI reductions of 2.3 kg/m2 and 3.4 kg/m2 at Days 22 and 54; the 48 mg dose was generally well tolerated with predominantly mild-to-moderate transient gastrointestinal adverse events and no treatment-related discontinuations or serious adverse events.

Pharmacokinetic analysis showed sustained, dose-proportional exposure, and the company claims there was no evidence of a weight-loss plateau through Week 8.

Preclinical data for vanoglipel (DA-1241), a once-daily oral GPR119 agonist, indicated synergistic hepatoprotective and weight-loss effects with resmetirom in a biopsy-confirmed diet-induced obese mouse model of MASH, including a 23.6% body weight reduction versus control and substantial reductions in fat mass and ALT, and showed enhanced glycemic control and greater body weight reduction when combined with metformin in a diet-induced obese T2D model.

According to the company, higher-dose evaluation of DA-1726 will continue in ongoing Phase 1 Part 3 titration studies, with results expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
