Mikra bags $8.5 million to launch new longevity supplement for cellular performance

Mikra plans to unlock cellular potential and improve healthspan with proprietary tech and patent pending formulation in new longevity supplement.

Mikra has announced $8.5 million in funding from its parent company, Lifeist Wellness Inc. The funding will be used to market and meet consumer demand for its first product, longevity supplement CELLF (pronounced “self” for those wondering), which has been engineered to increase cellular performance and improve healthspan. Prior to the funding announcement, CELLF had a waitlist of 40,000+ consumers; the company said that these sign-ups will now be able to gain access to the product via pre-sale. In addition, the funds will drive product development.

Longevity.Technology: Mikra is a biosciences company developing bioactive compounds that it hopes will positively impact human health and intervene before pharmaceuticals are necessary. CELLF’s formulation and mechanism-of-action are patent pending, and the company is currently conducting genomic pre-clinical trials to demonstrate the efficacy of the product at a genetic level with InVivo Biosystems. Mikra has also said it plans to continually improve CELLF, which it is targeting at the 30+ market, enhancing the product as scientific results of trials yield further information.

Mikra describes the longevity supplement as an “intensive superblend formula that is designed to help boost energy and mental focus on a cellular level [1]”. When ingested, the novel cellular therapeutic compound seeks to counteract the effects of oxidative stress and damage to internal cellular systems, bringing the body back to homeostasis.

Manufactured in a proprietary oxygen-deprived environment (created with a proprietary bicarbonate downstream manufacturing process), Mikra claims CELLF works at a cellular level to help combat systemic fatigue, inflammation and brain fog by promoting the creation of mitochondria, increasing their efficiency and removing the build-up of older, dysfunctional cells, presumably by encouraging autophagy.

In addition, the product uses a patented delivery mechanism, a two-stage liposomal-lactoferrin complex, that combines lactoferrin, an iron-binding glycoprotein, with a liposomal barrier. This ensures CELLF is not denatured by the gut, but allows the bioactive compounds to be delivered to the best site of absorption within the body – the jejunum – and thence into the blood plasma for delivery directly into cells.
CELLF contains:

  • Glutathione – reduces free radicals and reactive oxygen species within the body, protecting cells and preventing tissue damage.
  • Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinol) – improves the speed and efficiency of mitochondria, facilitating more energy production and availability at a cellular level.
  • Pyrroloquinoline Quinone – provides neuroprotection and stimulates the increase of mitochondrial numbers, improving function and resulting in more efficient, natural energy production.

“While increasing lifespan has always been the holy grail of scientific achievements, at Mikra we are instead entirely focused on achieving a greater ‘healthspan’,” said Faraaz Jamal, CEO of Mikra. “We want to maximize the number of years that you feel healthy and live as your best ‘you’.

“By using the most potent formulation on the market, going to great lengths with clinical testing, and using a proprietary delivery system, we are ensuring CELLF will keep its promises when it ships to consumers, ensuring that the product is enhancing healthy aging pathways now and in future versions [1].”

Mikra is keen to demonstrate that when it comes to research, the company is putting its money where its mouth is.

“We are taking the additional steps of conducting these time-consuming, costly, and extensive clinical trials because we want to document the impact that CELLF will really have on our cellular pathways,” said Jamal. “In fact, all of our scientific findings will be made public in order to demonstrate our commitment to transparent R&D. For us, this is not about just producing another supplemental product out on store shelves, this is about releasing a product that has gone through extensive clinical studies that can actually improve your quality of life [1].”
