Mission Therapeutics and NeuraLight have partnered to deploy NeuraLight’s eye-movement-derived brain function biomarkers across Mission’s multinational MTX325 trial in Parkinson’s disease, spanning clinical sites in the UK, Europe and Australia.
NeuraLight’s platform will provide objective, repeatable measures intended to quantify neural pathway function and detect subtle changes that conventional clinical scales may miss.
MTX325 is described by the company as a first-in-class, orally bioavailable, brain-penetrant USP30 inhibitor designed to restore mitophagy, a cellular process implicated in Parkinson’s pathology.
The company claims preclinical work, including a Nature publication, showed USP30 inhibition protected against alpha-synuclein-induced loss of dopaminergic neurons, and that Phase Ia single- and multiple-ascending dose studies with CSF sampling and PET imaging confirmed brain penetration.
The compound is advancing into a Phase Ib proof-of-mechanism study in patients with Parkinson’s disease, and the partnership aims to use NeuraLight measures as a functional endpoint to assess whether restoring mitochondrial quality control translates into clinical benefit.
