MitoRx Therapeutics will present new preclinical data on its lead asset MTRX31 at the 62nd annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Milan from 28 September to 2 October 2026.

Presentation details include the title MTRX31 induces bodyweight loss in diet-induced obesity mice at thermoneutrality by switching metabolism from fat to carbohydrate oxidation, presenter Xavier Jacq, and a scheduled oral session on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, 10:15-10:30 am CEST in Warsaw Hall; a webcast will be available for conference attendees after the event.

According to the company, the new data provide insights into MTRX31’s mode of action, including a shift from fat to carbohydrate oxidation that restores a metabolic mechanism attenuated in obesity, and structural biology evidence pointing to a single, well-characterized molecular target.

In a diet-induced obesity mouse model, MTRX31 produced reductions in body weight and fat mass, preservation of lean mass, and greater and more durable weight loss than tirzepatide at the doses evaluated.

MTRX31 is designed to reduce ectopic fat by restoring mitochondrial metabolism rather than suppressing appetite.

MitoRx is based in Harwell, Oxford, with an additional laboratory in Babraham, Cambridge.
