Moonwalk Biosciences closed an oversubscribed $70 million Series B financing co-led by Alpha Wave and YK Bioventures, with participation from Eli Lilly and Company, Gaorong Ventures and existing investors ARCH Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures and Future Ventures, the company announced.

The proceeds will advance its lead obesity candidate, MW101, into first-in-human studies in late 2027, expand a pipeline of adipose-selective siRNA medicines and further develop its discovery platform.

Moonwalk develops adipose-targeted RNA interference therapies and has licensed adipose-targeting chemistry from Suzhou Siran Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

The company claims preclinical data show robust reductions in body weight and fat mass with preservation of lean muscle mass, translational evidence of favorable metabolic pathway modulation and durable adipose target engagement in non-human primates that could support quarterly or twice-yearly dosing.

Moonwalk also appointed Dr Stephen Djedjos as senior vice president, clinical development, to lead clinical efforts.
