Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, presented four e-posters at the American Academy of Dermatology meeting covering safety and efficacy data for the investigational neurotoxin TrenibotE and findings on patients receiving GLP-1 agonists for weight loss.
An 18-week, open-label Phase 3 study evaluating up to three repeat TrenibotE treatments for glabellar lines showed a consistent safety profile with no new safety concerns and no neutralizing antibody development; TrenibotE demonstrated a rapid onset as early as eight hours and a shorter duration of effect of about two to three weeks.
Separately, an electronic survey of U.S. health care professionals treating GLP-1 patients found that an estimated 52 percent of GLP-1–treated patients expressed concern about facial appearance during treatment; respondents reported 32 percent of these patients were new to their practices.
Reported barriers to aesthetic care for GLP-1 patients included cost (82 percent) and fear of unnatural results (58 percent); respondents also characterized the GLP-1 patient population as predominantly white (64 percent), female (70 percent), and aged 30 to 49 years (56 percent).
