Aging2.0 announces inaugural VOLTAGE event, connecting entrepreneurs and innovators to build a single market for active and healthy aging in Europe.
This April, Aging2.0 will stage its first VOLTAGE event in Rovinj, Croatia, bringing together founders and executives to accelerate Europe’s aging innovation ecosystem. Speakers are invited to share global best practices and drive collaboration on European priorities for active and healthy aging.
Key discussion topics at VOLTAGE will include:
- Disruptive Demographics. By 2050 there will be 50 million fewer working-age Europeans than in 2010. How will this impact society? And what are the new moonshots, narratives and measures of success that will shape our lives?
- Integrated, Sustainable Communities. European cities consistently top quality-of-life rankings yet rural areas are rapidly depopulating. How can Europe improve healthy living (and dying) in communities? And what data strategies will maintain privacy but enable innovation?
- Making Missions Happen. Europe’s single market promises four freedoms, yet mobility for older people remains challenging. How can we encourage movement of people of all ages across Europe, and how do we scale the best ideas internationally?
“We want VOLTAGE to bring about a much-needed mindset shift around aging in Europe,” Stephen Johnston, co-founder of Aging2.0, told us. “We need to take a ‘whole system’ approach not just confine it to one sector, start thinking about aging and Longevity much earlier, and bring the best and brightest innovators together to work together on solving problems collaboratively.”
This reflects much of the narrative that came out from the UK Government’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Longevity report; By 2027, the number of people in the UK aged over 65 is set to rocket to nearly one in five [1].
Key speakers include Scott David from Shapeable.ai, who will be speaking on technology and the future of collaboration, International Longevity Centre Research Fellow Sophia Dimitriadis, who will discuss ‘maximising the longevity dividend’, and MEDRI Professor Vanja Vasilev, who will share research into effective integrated care models.
Julia Randall-Khan, a Fellow at Stanford University’s Center on Longevity will discuss the center’s new ‘Map of Life’ and EngagedX founder Karl Richter will explore new approaches to measuring impact.
In addition, the 24 European Aging2.0 Chapters are currently curating a list of their most promising startups, and six of the most collaborative and impactful will be showcased.
