NorthStrive Biosciences, a PMGC Holdings Inc. subsidiary, filed two U.S. patent applications on June 18, 2026, seeking human-use claims for EL-22 and EL-32 to preserve lean muscle mass during GLP-1 and other obesity-related weight loss therapies.
The filings, assigned U.S. Patent Application Nos. 19/709,895 (EL-22) and 19/709,950 (EL-32), expand the company’s intellectual property from animal health to potential human pharmaceutical applications for conditions including sarcopenia, obesity-related weight loss, malnutrition, neurogenic atrophy, and physical inactivity.
The EL-22 application includes claims for myostatin-derived Myo-2 peptide constructs, multimers, and fusion proteins, while the EL-32 application covers microorganisms transformed with a cell surface display vector linked to genes encoding myostatin and activin A, with embodiments involving lactic acid bacteria such as Lactobacillus paracasei.
The filings also claim combination and co-administration approaches with apelin or ursolic acid and multiple delivery formats, including oral, injectable, nasal, and topical.
The company believes the rapid adoption of GLP-1 and next-generation incretin therapies creates an opportunity for complementary muscle-preserving approaches.
