NorthStrive Biosciences Inc., a Newport Beach, Calif. subsidiary of PMGC Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: ELAB), filed U.S. Patent Application No. 19/655,160 on 28 April, seeking protection for pharmaceutical compositions, formulations and dosing regimens of its myostatin-engineered probiotic EL-22 for the treatment of muscle-wasting conditions.
The application covers a broad range of indications, including muscle loss associated with GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy, sarcopenia, muscle disuse atrophy and certain neurological disorders.
The filing is intended to expand NorthStrive’s intellectual property around composition, formulation and method-of-use claims as part of a layered IP strategy for EL-22.
The press release was re-released to clarify the scope of the patent application, and the company notes there has been no change to the underlying filing, the application number or the filing date. EL-22 is being developed to support muscle preservation in patients undergoing weight-loss treatments such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, and the new application advances its focus on muscle health therapeutics across pharmaceutical and metabolic markets.
