Pathways Bioscience announced that a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study published in Free Radical Biology and Medicine evaluated PB125 in 20 younger adults and 24 older adults.
The company claims two weeks of PB125 supplementation substantially improved vascular endothelial function in older adults, with brachial artery flow-mediated dilation increasing approximately 65% and popliteal artery flow-mediated dilation increasing approximately 57%.
Pathways Bioscience claims PB125 preserved brachial and popliteal artery flow-mediated dilation and leg vascular conductance during five days of bed rest in older participants and protected lower-limb endothelial function during limb immobilization in younger participants.
PB125 has also preserved circulating levels of superoxide dismutase during bed rest. The researchers propose that targeted activation of Nrf2 by PB125 enhances antioxidant defenses and supports vascular health, and the company claims the findings add human evidence for PB125 as a botanical Nrf2 activator.
