Rubedo Life Sciences announced a clinical study of its investigational GPX4 modulator RLS-1496 for androgenetic alopecia, with dosing to begin in October 2026 and initial data expected in the first half of 2027.

The trial will be led by David Pariser, MD, and represents the first clinical evaluation of a GPX4 modulator in hair loss. The company reports ex vivo human hair follicle results showing RLS-1496 restored follicle growth in a DHT-challenged model and at the highest dose matched or outperformed finasteride, and cites preclinical and prior clinical skin data supporting a dual SenoAdaptive mechanism that clears pathologic senescent cells and modulates NRF2 pathways.

Androgenetic alopecia is described as a common form of hair loss affecting about 50 million men and 30 million women in the U.S., and the global AGA market was valued at $3.2 billion in 2025 and projected to reach $6.8 billion by 2035.

The company plans to present the ex vivo data at the ARDD meeting on 1-3 October 2026.
