Sana will present clinical data from an investigator-sponsored, first-in-human study transplanting UP421, an allogeneic primary islet cell therapy engineered with the company’s hypoimmune platform (HIP), into a patient with type 1 diabetes without any immunosuppression.

The presentation is scheduled as part of a symposium titled stem cell-derived islets in clinical trials: towards a cure for type 1 diabetes at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes annual meeting 2026 in Milan, which runs from 28 September to 2 October 2026.

The talk, titled Hypoimmune islets: engineering immune evasion for durable transplantation without immunosuppression, is set for Friday, 2 October 2026, from 9:10 to 9:30 a.m. CEST. The session will highlight UP421 data and the company described HIP as intended to enable durable transplantation without systemic immunosuppression.
