Aubrey de Grey on Longevity Summit Dublin 2023 and what it means for the longevity movement.
Kicking off in August, the 2023 Longevity Summit Dublin is set to recognize emerging research developments to extend human healthspan by gathering together some of the world’s leading scientists. A showcase for the most up-to-date research and innovations in the longevity industry, the summit will feature keynote presentations by leading experts in the aging field.
Longevity.Technology: With over 40 global pioneering scientists, researchers and investors packed into four days of sharing knowledge, identifying opportunities and networking, Longevity Summit Dublin is one of the must-attend dates of the longevity calendar. Eminent gerontologist Dr Aubrey de Grey is speaking at the conference, and we sat down with him to find out what attendees can expect this year.
Aubrey de Grey on…
Assembly time
I’ve been running meetings like this for twenty years – Cambridge, Berlin, Dublin – and I’ve been really proud of the speaking roster I’ve been able to bring in each time. But, I will honestly say, this time exceeds all the others; in fact, honestly, for a conference of this length, I don’t think anybody has ever assembled a speaking roster as illustrious as this. Conferences like this are incredibly important for the longevity movement and bring together private sector, public sector, philanthropy and different areas of expertise, which includes advocacy and policy, as well as science. This conference has it all and is going to be the best yet!
Sharing LEV Foundation news
I very much hope we’ll see some announcements of new Longevity Escape Velocity Foundation programs at the Summit. In terms of the sheer dollar amount being spent, the predominant work that the LEV Foundation does will be of the kind that we’re doing at Ichor right now – in other words, individual, self-contained studies that cost a lot (like $3 million a pop, basically), but we’ll do them as soon as we have the money to do them.
The first study is going right now, but in parallel we want to do more – we have quite a list of other interventions in other combinations that we want to try out! The process of deciding what to do will be done very publicly over the next couple of months.
Longevity Summit Dublin 2023 runs from 17-20 August 2023. Bag your Early Bird ticket now for €695 (offer ends 17th May) – student rates available!
We’ll be catching up on some more LEV Foundation news with Aubrey de Grey later this week – stay tuned!
